The second theme rebuilt from the ground up: Granite 2.0.0 "Gazette", the newspaper of associations and clubs.
Changed
- Granite 2.0.0 "Gazette": a new layout, not a reskin. The site becomes the club’s newspaper: today’s date and the account on one line at the top, the site name printed very large (the logo above it, if there is one), a double rule, then the sections in small capitals between two rules. On the home page, an "In brief" line scrolls the latest forum topics; it stops on hover, with the keyboard and with its pause button, and stays still when the visitor asks for reduced motion. The front page opens on the main story in large type, with its ornate capital, then the next ones in columns separated by rules; the right-hand column carries the calendar, the poll and who is online. Blocks become boxless panels, titled in small capitals over a rule; an article reads like newspaper body text; the forum takes the look of a readers’ letters page; the member area, that of a membership card stamped with the member’s first group; the footer becomes an imprint (the partners, then who publishes). A thin reading bar follows the page. Day is paper, night is an "inked" page, at the visitor’s choice; Playfair Display headings, Source Serif text. On phones, the sections scroll sideways and everything goes into one column.
- Granite’s zones are named after their place: "Sections", "In brief", "Content", "After content", "Footer".
- Granite’s settings: the banner image becomes the title image, and the title color, once changed, sets a band behind the name, like a daily paper’s nameplate; the logo is finally used (above the name); a "Drop caps" setting replaces the fixed top bar setting, which no longer has a purpose.
Fixed
- No more Bootstrap blue among a theme’s colors. A poll’s bar, the checked box and the selected radio button (even in
the administration), the active page, a menu’s pressed entry, an accordion’s arrow, the keyboard focus glow and the
states of a primary button kept Bootstrap’s default blue. They take the theme’s accent color, in every theme; a new
check,
check-bleu-bootstrap, looks for that blue in the served pages, at rest and on focus, by day and by night. - The sections set by Forge and Granite are translated: "Matchs", "Nous rejoindre", "À la une", "Agenda" and "Documents" stayed in French on a site in another language. The translation check now verifies every menu title a theme sets.
- The live editor shows the site with its own fonts: it imposed its own on the content of the zones it frames.
- The contrast check also measures text set on a grain (paper, a screen pattern): it took it for an image and gave up measuring it.
